MONTICELLO – Village of Monticello Police are currently investigating multiple shooting incidents that occurred the morning of Wednesday, July 30.
According to police, at 12:23 a.m. Sullivan County 911 received a report of shots fired with a 17-year-old female having sustained a gunshot wound to the abdomen and a graze wound to her neck outside a residence located on Landfield Avenue.
The female was transported by a private vehicle to Garnet Health Medical Center in Harris prior to officers arriving on scene. The victim was subsequently transported by Medevac to the Westchester Medical Center from Garnet Harris. There was no update on her condition at presstime.
The residence on Landfield Avenue where the incident occurred was struck by multiple rounds.
That same night, at 1:51 a.m. Sullivan County 911 received multiple calls reporting shots fired at the Sleepy Hollow apartment complex located on Terry Lane. Multiple buildings in the complex were struck by gunfire during the incidents with one bullet narrowly missing a sleeping child, when a bullet entered through a bedroom wall and over a bed, according to police.
Additionally at 1:56 a.m. the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of multiple shots fired into a residence on Dill Road in the Town of Forestburgh.
The three incidents are believed to be related. A joint investigation by Village of Monticello Police, New York State Police, Sullivan Sheriff’s Office and the Sullivan County District Attorney Office is currently underway.
