Music from Spain and Latin America: An Evening of Classical Guitar Music by Dan Garcia on October 9

Posted

LIBERTY – As part of National Hispanic Heritage Month, the soulful sounds of Spanish guitar by classical guitarist Dan Garcia will be enjoyed at the Liberty Library ‘Café’ on Thursday, October 9 at 6:30pm. Awed by Garcia’s mesmerizing music last year, we are thrilled that Garcia is returning for an all-new performance. From the Spanish Baroque melodies of Gaspar Sanz to the Cuban rhythms of Leo Brower, Garcia’s program of Spanish and South American music is an authentic offering of personal heritage.

Steeped in tradition and the sounds of old Segovia records, Dan Garcia’s love of Spanish guitar began in his birthplace of Madrid, Spain. His studies include master classes with guitar virtuosi Ernesto Bitetti, Oscar Gihglia, Jason Vieaux and Alvaro Pierri.

In addition to Spanish classical music, Garcia plays a variety of styles including world music, jazz, flamenco and rock. He has performed in NYC’s most revered clubs including Joe’s Pub, (le) Poisson Rouge, SOBs, Zinc Bar, Drom, The Bitter End, Rockwood Music Hall, and Cafe Wha? and is the lead guitarist of the mesmerizing Santana tribute band, Black Magic.

Dan Garcia founded Maple Street Studio, a private teaching studio, and DG Music Studio where he composes, arranges and collaborates on music for media, film and advertising. He is the creator of three guitar technique books as well as two bilingual learning apps for aspiring guitarists and teachers. In addition to a thriving performance career, Garcia is a professor of music at Manhattan University in NYC.

Music lovers won’t want to miss this unique performance! Due to the popularity of our live music events, registration is required. This free presentation will be held at the Liberty Public Library at 189 North Main Street, Liberty.
