HONESDALE, PA – The Wayne County Arts Alliance is pleased to present two new exhibitions opening October 9, at the WCAA Gallery, 959 Main St., Honesdale.

Artist Reception – Friday, October 10 from 4-6pm, exhibitions run through November 21.

Main Gallery (1st Floor): “Good People,” Curated by Dan Nelson

Good People showcases a diverse collection of work by local and regional artists. Curated by Dan Nelson, well-known Honesdale tattoo artist and owner of Happy Tattoo, the show brings together an eclectic mix of media and styles. With work ranging from illustration, painting, ceramics, photography to mixed media, Good People is a celebration of those who make, do, and inspire in the studio and beyond.

Member’s Gallery (2nd Floor): “Home (Inspired),” Curated by Maura Doern Danko

Home (Inspired) invites viewers to consider the idea of home – both as a tangible space and as a site of memory, intimacy, and imagination. Curated by painter and educator Maura Doern Danko, this exhibition explores the many meanings of home through a variety of artistic approaches, including sculpture, woodworking, and painting.

“Home can be thought of in a multitude of ways. We can consider its physical aspects, walls, yard, rooms, and its atmosphere: refuge, warmth, gathering. Apart from a house, we can poetically conjure what it is to reside in a home.”

– Maura Doern Danko

Participating artists in Home (Inspired) include:

Maura Doern Danko – NYC – area painter whose work draws on scenes of domestic life, architecture, and family memories, www.mauradoerndanko.com/.

• Houston P. Hill – NJ-based woodworker and sculptor whose work blends utility      and poetry, referencing architectural detail, Instagram @fallingwoodstudio.

Dana Ingham – Pittsburgh artist known for paper-based sculptures that explore themes of urban housing and domesticity, www.danaingham.com/.
