Stay where music is the destination: expanded camping at Bethel Woods
Bethel Woods is expanding its camping options beyond show nights. From May through October, guests can now enjoy a variety of camping experiences in the days surrounding concerts and festivals. This change comes after Bethel Woods surveyed first-season campers and found a strong demand for extended accommodations. The Campground features two distinct areas: Pavilion Camping, which offers in-venue glamping and premier tent sites just steps away from the main stage, and Historic Camping, located on the original 1969 Woodstock festival grounds, with modern amenities for RVs and car camping. New for this season, campers can now select their exact campsite at booking, making it easier to stay next to friends. Other new amenities to the campground include a camp store and food service, additional picnic tables, fire pits, and community game areas, including a Woodstock historically-focused disc golf course.
The Museum at Bethel Woods: Reliving Woodstock’s legacy
Now open for the season, The Museum at Bethel Woods explores the 1969 Woodstock Music and Art Fair as a defining moment of the Sixties, highlighting its cultural impact and lasting legacy. Ranked among the top music museums in the country by USA Today’s 10Best, the Museum offers an immersive experience through personal stories, interactive exhibits, and engaging programs. This year’s special exhibit, How Bazaar: Arts, Crafts, & Camping at Woodstock, examines the Bindy Bazaar marketplace and the festival’s pioneering on-site camping. Drawing from over five years of research, oral histories, and archaeological studies, the exhibit uncovers often-overlooked elements that helped shape Woodstock’s legacy.
Family fun: P.L.A.Y. the Bethel Woods way
Bethel Woods invites children to explore their creativity through interactive classes and kid-friendly events in a variety of art forms. Designed to foster teamwork and self-expression, these hands-on experiences help young artists feel supported as they discover the joy of making art. This summer, P.L.A.Y. (Peace. Love. Arts. You.) returns to the Studios at Bethel Woods, offering a dynamic arts program for kids ages 5-14. Led by professional teaching artists, participants will dive into music, painting, sculpture, digital design, and more – building creativity and community in an unforgettable setting. Flexible week-by-week registration makes it easy to fit into summer plans, but spots fill fast!
BuildFest 2: Peace rises September 10-14
BuildFest marks the fourth year of the Bethel Woods Art & Architecture Festival and invites academics and researchers to submit designs for timber “Peace-Infrastructure,” which will be installed at various locations on the historic grounds of the 1969 Woodstock festival. Over the course of a five-day live-work festival, accepted participants will work with self-organized student teams to build, install, and work through on-site design solutions.
