Old Time Fiddlers take over Central Park on July 23

HONESDALE, PA –  One of our area’s most beloved and long-lived institutions, the Old Time Fiddlers were founded by Fred Williams and John Beers in 1978 to preserve and spread the traditional musics of Europe and North America. For nearly half a century, this multigenerational group has performed at Grange halls, schools, churches, fire halls and benefits throughout Northeastern PA and beyond. Songs from many traditions are mixed with stories and memories that the entire family can enjoy. They’ll be returning once again to Honesdale’s Central Park on Wednesday evening, July 23, beginning at 7:30pm.

NEPA Young Musician, Nedelya Simeonova is the featured act to open the concert at 7pm. Nedelya who is going into 8th grade has been playing the violin for 10 years and started playing with The Old Time Fiddlers when she was 5 years old. She likes playing old time fiddle music and traditional tunes.

Audiences should bring their own chairs or blankets for seating. Fresh ice cream from Creamworks will be available for purchase. In case of inclement weather, the concert will be moved, or rescheduled for later in the summer. Tune in 105.3 FM for more information, or check the WCCAC web page on Facebook or www.honesdaleparkevents.org.
