One Grand Books celebrates 10th Anniversary with Community Event on October 4

NARROWSBURG – On October 4, One Grand Books will celebrate its 10th anniversary with a community gathering featuring champagne, hors d’oeuvres, book giveaways, and live music performed from the balcony of the Delaware Valley Arts Alliance. The event will run from 5-8pm and is open to the public.

Founded in 2015 by editor and writer Aaron Hicklin, One Grand Books quickly gained national attention for its unique concept: every title in the shop comes from a “desert island” list of ten favorite books chosen by cultural figures ranging from writers and filmmakers to chefs and musicians. Within its first year, The New York Times profiled the store, and in 2016 GQ named it one of the “30 Best New Stores in the World.”

Over the past decade, One Grand has grown far beyond its original storefront. Its success helped inspire the creation of the Deep Water Literary Fest (now an independent non-profit), the biannual arts and literary magazine Grand Journal, and the podcast and radio show Shelf Life, which features in-depth conversations with leading writers and artists from Ari Shapiro and Alan Cumming to Geoff Dyer, Michael Cunningham, Lydia Millet, and Jeanette Winterson.

“From the beginning, One Grand Books has been about connection – between readers and books, and between neighbors and visitors,” Hicklin said. “This anniversary is a chance to celebrate that community and the many stories that have been shared here over the last ten years.”

One Grand Books is located at 60 Main Street, Narrowsburg. For more information, contact Aaron Hicklin at 718- 812-8039.
