Original Woodstock venue opens upscale campground

BETHEL — A historical pillar of the American music scene, Bethel Woods Center for the Arts—a non-profit performance venue and original site of the 1969 Woodstock festival—today unveiled the launch of its brand new, state-of-the-art campground. Bethel Woods is among the first venue of its kind to offer campground facilities of this caliber, which include a spectrum of options, from basic campsite amenities for the camping purists to exclusive, unparalleled glamping experiences for those seeking a touch of luxury in the outdoors.

With the current trend of camping and glamping—which accounted for approximately 32 percent of all leisure trips taken in 2022—Bethel Woods sets itself apart by fusing top-tier outdoor hospitality with its existing programming and expansive musical lineup. Bethel Woods invites guests to elevate their Sullivan Catskills experience, providing an opportunity to immerse themselves in nature while enjoying live music performances and festivals. In addition, the campground experience promises an array of unique activations, from morning yoga and sound baths to evening drum circles and campfire hootenannies.

“Given the unique legacy of the property, and the expansive 1,800 acres surrounding the Center’s historic footprint, we’re thrilled to be one of the first venues in the country to offer an outdoor getaway that blends our rich history and picturesque scenery with live music—further elevating the experience here,” said Eric Frances, CEO, Bethel Woods Center for the Arts. “With this new offering, luxury travelers and outdoor enthusiasts alike now have an opportunity to engross themselves in both nature and music against the beautiful backdrop of the Sullivan Catskills.”

Camping at Bethel Woods debuts during the 2024 concert season. Reservations can be purchased as an add-on to admission of any concert or event upon check-out. A multitude of accommodations are available including:

In Venue Glamping:

Located within the concert venue near the amphitheater with stunning views of the Bethel Woods campus and surrounding landscape of the 1969 Woodstock festival site, these camping areas are a short five-minute walk to the Main Stage Pavilion or the Museum at Bethel Woods.

With three different levels of luxury glamping bedrooms, there is an option for party sizes between one and six guests. Each tent has bedding and furniture, full bathroom and shower, wifi, electricity, portable heater, outdoor deck seating, and other deluxe amenities. Luxury glamping guests receive complimentary access to the Museum at Bethel Woods during their stay.

Additionally, there is a basic glamping level available where one or two guests can enjoy a furnished bell tent with bedding and an electrical power strip for charging devices. This includes access to nearby restrooms and free shower facilities.

Tent Only Camping:

Located within the concert venue near the amphitheater, guests can bring their own tent that fits within a spacious grass site. Access to nearby portable toilets, hand washing stations, and showers are included. Each reservation includes up to four guests per site, but additional guest passes can be purchased for groups larger than four.

RV & Car Camping:

Located off of Best Road, RV and Car camping will provide stunning views of the Bethel Woods campus and surrounding landscape of the 1969 Woodstock site. Located less than half a mile from the pavilion or museum, shuttles are available for guests that require transportation assistance.

RV sites packages differ based on size and accommodations. The Premier RV package includes a generous gravel pad for up to four people, 50-amp electric hookup, water, and access to one sewer pump out via an outside provider. The Primitive RV package includes parking on a grass location. These campsites are better suited for larger vehicles (SUVs or travel trailers) than car camping sites. Pump out and water delivery services are available for a fee. Each package includes access to nearby restrooms and free shower facilities. Additional guest passes can be purchased for groups larger than four.

Standard Car Camping sites are also available and allow one vehicle per site. Each site accommodates all types of cars, large vans or tents but nothing may extend outside of your designated area. Each reservation also includes access to nearby portable toilets, hand washing stations and free showers. Additional guest passes can be purchased for groups larger than four.

“From pitching your own tent to unwinding in our luxury glamping facilities, and with a broad range of outdoor activities, the campground ensures there’s a little something for everyone,” added Frances.
