CALLICOON –– The Delaware Youth Center’s 25th Annual River Run along the Delaware River went on as planned on Sunday. Despite thunderstorms showing up in the forecast Saturday night, the rain held up for the run.

It turned out to be a beautiful morning as participants  for the 5K and 10K signed in at the Youth Center before heading down to the start line right by the Democrat.

The annual River Run is a fundraiser for the Delaware Youth Center and brings families together, as several participants joined their families. Over 400 total participants, including runners for the 5K and 10K, and walkers enjoyed the flat course along the Delaware.

Ann Santoro, DYC Race Director, said that they raised over $15,000 for the 25th Annual event.

Kieran Ryan of Monticello was the overall winner for the 5K and Edgar Silva from Camps Equinunk and Blue Ridge (CECBR) was the overall winner for the 10K.

“This year more than ever, I am filled with gratitude,” Santoro said. “Gratitude for all the participants who joined us on River Road to run and walk impressive races in the humid weather; gratitude that the thunderstorms passed us by;  and gratitude for all who help make our race possible:  our generous sponsors, our emergency personnel who keep us safe, all our volunteers, and our racing community who support us and make our race what it is today.”

Santoro also said that The Largest Team Award went to Camps Equinuk and Blue Ridge with 130 participants.
