MONTICELLO – The Monticello Panthers volleyball team has entered the first round of Sectionals. Monticello #4 will first face #5 Beacon Bulldogs. The winner of that match will move on to the semi-final round and face Port Jervis on Thursday, November 6, at 5 pm on Port Jervis’ home court. This will be the second time these two teams will square off against each other in the last two weeks.

Head Coach Sierra Smith shared her thoughts about the Panthers returning to Sectionals for the first time since 2018, “We are very proud to have accomplished our goal of making it to the post-season. This team has fought very hard for this moment since last May when we started offseason training. We are beyond grateful that our seniors get to experience one more game in the Pit! For their Monday matchup Coach Smith asked for all the fans to wear black. “We’re going for a blackout theme. Let’s pack the stands with lots of Panther Pride.”

The Panthers (10-10, 3-3) are looking to go all the way to the championship round but must get through the Beacon Bulldogs first. Look for full coverage of the Panthers vs. Bulldogs in Friday’s sports section.
