GRAHAMSVILLE—The holidays in Sullivan County are such magical times. We’ve just gathered around the Thanksgiving table with family and friends, grateful for so many blessings and are now busily preparing for holiday festivities.
Let the many wonderful activities, programs and festive events of our local libraries fill your schedule, and hearts, with cheer and happiness. For individual library events, please visit the appropriate website and social media platforms for up-to-date information. Here, at the Daniel Pierce Library, we’re excited to host a variety of events and programs for our community. There will be an adult holiday felting program, Cookies & Cocoa family night with a special visit from Santa, Latkes & Applesauce, and Sounds of the Season, which will be a beautiful, musical evening featuring local artist Shane Rennison.
But regardless where you’re located within Sullivan County, or our surrounding counties, stop in at the Daniel Pierce Library throughout December. Our adult reading room will be decked to the halls with beautiful decorations, just perfect for holiday family photos. Our holiday books—adult and children alike—will be on display and ready for check out, just like our neighboring libraries, each one showcasing their own holiday flair.
And sometimes, the holiday season can be overwhelming for some, or emotional for others. Let the library in your hometown be a source of solace. Stop in for a bit of warmth—both literally and figuratively. Share tidings with the staff and volunteers, we’re all a talkative bunch, and soak up the quiet calmness libraries evoke. Take a few minutes out of the hectic season just for yourself, browse the fabulous book collections, sneak a peek at a newspaper or flip through a magazine.
Our hometown libraries are such vital resources for our communities—sources of information, comradery, social interaction and fellowship. Show your support this season by attending a program, liking a social media post, or checking out materials.
In additional news:
Calling all local poets, please join Sullivan County Poet Laureate Kevin Graham for an opportunity to share your original poetry. Kevin, a multi-media artist and poet, will share some of his work and provide a supportive environment for both new and accomplished writers. Each poet will be given 4 minutes to share their work. The four-part series kicked off on Friday, November 21 at the Livingston Manor branch of the Livingston Manor-Roscoe Library. The next one will be on Monday, December 1 at 6PM at the Ethelbert B. Crawford Public Library in Monticello, followed by December 5, 5PM at the Sunshine Hall Free Library in Eldred and concluding on December 12, 5PM at the Roscoe Branch of the Livingston Manor-Roscoe Library. To register please visit the individual library’s website.
Enjoy the holidays!
