ELDRED – Due to the continuing uncertainty of the Food Stamp Assistance Program known as SNAP, PSK Supermarkets, the parent company of Pecks Markets and Foodtown Stores, has mandated all of their stores order additional groceries and make donations to their local food banks and pantries to help those in need.
The total donated food will reach $22,000 across its outlets. In Pecks Market in Eldred, Jeff Gombita donated $1,000 at-cost essential groceries to the St. Anthony's Food Pantry to underwrite their upcoming holiday food distribution program. In addition, all of the Foodtown PSK stores set up displays of "Food Bags" packed with groceries that shoppers can purchase for a nominal fee that will also be donated to food banks and pantries.
"PSK has a long history of stepping up in times of crisis," said Noah Katz, the president and CEO of PSK. "While the debate continues on, there is a real impact on families and children and we are committed to doing everything we can to protect those at risk.”
St. Anthony's Food Pantry Coordinator, Margie Granese, accepted their very generous food donation.
"This very generous donation will go a long way in helping us manage the increase in families we are now seeing and deal with the cutbacks we are experiencing" she said.
