PHILLIPSPORT — On July 19, Phillipsport Community Center will hold its monthly music night at 657 Red Hill Rd, Phillipsport, NY. The music will begin at 7-9pm, with doors opening at 6:30.

This month’s first set is The Kurt Henry Duo. Cheryl and Kurt are a tight, mostly acoustic country-rock guitar/harmonica duet with a diverse repertoire of topical songs, ballads, and stories both new and old.  Kurt, an inventive country-rock guitarist playing in several styles, started performing out in 1967, opening for acts including Loudon Wainwright lll at the Village Gaslight and Jim Kweskin, later, at Kenny’s Castaways. After moving to the Hudson Valley, he led the Womblers, opening for acts like Procol Harum, The Byrds, Asleep at the Wheel, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, John Sebastian, David Bromberg, etc. Cheryl brings sweet harmonies, melodic harmonica, tight percussion and on occasion is the sound-tech. Cheryl & Kurt bring live music to people at home every Sunday night at 7pm on The Nine Mile Swamp Facebook page: https://link.edgepilot.com/s/a13c23cf/EHYCVrb7vke-nDdkAxLK5g?u=http://www.facebook.com//theninemileswamp.

Following a brief intermission for announcements, The Johnny Jules Band will rock the rest of the evening playing bluegrass, rock, and Americana. The band features Bobby D on dobro, Trish Murphy on fiddle, and Johnny Jules with his gritty vocals while strumming guitar.

$10 at the door includes music, homemade pies, and a non-alcoholic drink.

Outdoors, weather permitting. Check our Facebook page or call 845-313-1772 for more information.

Underwritten by a Sullivan County Arts and Heritage Grant (SCAHG)
