Phillipsport — Enjoy a night of music at the Phillipsport Community Center, 657 Red Hill Rd, Phillipsport, NY 12769, on October 18. Doors open at 6:30pm and the music is from 7-9pm.

Every month the Phillipsport Community Center hosts a music night October  will host the Fisher and Kean Duo and Robert Tellefsen and band.

Deborah Fisher and Paul Kean, singer/songwriters. Fisher & Kean formed two years after each heard the other in a music festival that Paul Kean curated. Both thought each other would sound good vocally together and since 2017 have been perfecting the style one gig at a time. Fisher & Kean wrote and released their first dual CD album “Pure Local Honey” containing 28 original songs about half Fisher’s, half Kean’s during 2022. Their sound has evolved with a vast repertoire of traditional, folk, rock, bluegrass, blues, with originals sprinkled in, drawing from life experience and showcasing the artists we love from years past into the present.

Robert Tellefsen’s voice, guitar style, and the band are reminiscent of Richie Havens. The two met in Greenwich Village and on occasion he played with Havens as his lead guitarist. Struggling with arthritis and carpal tunnel, Tellefsen stopped playing guitar. In the 1990s, he met Havens backstage at a club before a show. When Tellefsen explained why he no longer played, Haven taught him to tune his guitar to “open D” and form chords by bringing his thumb over top of the fingerboard: Havens’ own work-around. This reverse hand technique was much easier on Tellefsen’s joints and reawakened his musical passion. Tellefsen has dedicated himself to honoring the music of Richie Havens and the spirit of the original Woodstock, getting us all “back to the garden”.
