SULLIVAN COUNTY – The Yellowjackets are just coming off a huge win over the Tri-Valley Bears to the tune of 46-6.  It was also senior night so it made the win extra special. All of the Eldred seniors played a huge role in this win with touchdowns from Trai Kaufmann, Conner Ranaudo, Mason Tice, Koen McGill and James Deyermond. Eldred (4-1) and Sullivan West (3-1) will face off tonight at 7 pm at Sullivan West’s main field in a highly anticipated football matchup. As the top two teams in Sullivan County, there’s a lot of excitement surrounding this game.

Sullivan West had a strong showing in a huge win, their biggest of the season, over the Rockland Wolves. The Bulldogs commanded the game from the opening kickoff outplaying the Wolves on both sides of the ball. The Bulldogs showed their depth, playing their second and third string for much of the second half. The Rockland Wolves are scheduled to play Corinth High School in Catskill tonight at 7:00 pm in a non-league matchup.

The Liberty Redhawks head to New Paltz to face the 1-4 New Paltz Huguenots. Kick off is scheduled for 6:30 pm.

These two teams look pretty evenly matched and the Redhawks are one step closer to closing in on their first win of the season after last weeks strong performance.

The 0-5 Redhawks came close to victory against Rondout Valley last weekend but ultimately came up short in an 18-14 loss. Austin Frunzi of the Redhawks caught scoring passes of 61 and 34 yards in their loss.

On Saturday, October 4 the Monticello Panthers were shut out by  the O’Neill Raiders. Despite the hard loss, quarterback Seth Jackson threw for 105 yards and teammate Anthony Ortiz ended the game with 54 receiving yards in their 33-0 loss. The Panthers are set to play the 3-2 Red Hook Raiders at Dietz Stadium on Saturday at  5:00 pm.

The Tri-Valley Bears continue to grow and make progress this season. On their loss to Eldred Coach Kevin Krudele said, “We’re young, we’re working, we’ve made progress on the running game, we just have to continue that progress to the other phases of the game.” Cairo-Durham’s defense has struggled this season which may be a good omen that Bears will break through and grab their first “W” of the season. The Bears will meet Cairo-Durham on their home field Saturday at 1:00 pm.
