MONTICELLO –– The 16th Annual BCANY vs Cancer Classic kicked off with the Monticello Panthers squaring off against the Liberty Redhawks. Under head coach Levar Hamilton, the Lady Redhawks have shown steady growth on the court throughout the season.

With an even split of two wins and two losses over the last four games, this win increases their record to 4-10 overall. The Panthers continue to struggle this season with their only win coming back in December over the Redhawks. They see their record fall to 1-12 on the season. Liberty held a slight edge going into this matchup and at half time had a 17-22 lead at the midway buzzer.

After the half both squads had trouble holding onto the ball and turned the ball over on several possessions. Both teams were held to only four points a piece in scoring to wrap up the third quarter. The Redhawks were up 26-21 to open the final eight minutes. Reaching fouls by the Panthers would put them in foul trouble during the final minutes of the game.

This kept the Redhawks at the line where they would increase their lead to 10. Not giving up without a fight the Panthers were able to grab some last-minute buckets but the Redhawks would win this one the road over the Panthers 36-30.
