Redhawks fall short against Huguenots: Lose tough matchup 34-22

LIBERTY – The Liberty Redhawks football team hosted the New Paltz Huguenots. The Redhawks got off to a lightning start as they ran in their first touchdown early in the first quarter to take a 7-0 lead. But the Huguenots quickly turned up their offensive game, scoring 3 touchdowns before the whistle to take a 20-7 lead before the half. During halftime, the Liberty Warriors Jr/Pee Wee cheerleading and football teams were recognized, each player called out individually to run to center field. The cheerleaders cheered alongside Liberty’s varsity cheer squad, performing their own choreographed routines throughout the game.

Live game day music was provided by members of Liberty’s high school band.

New Paltz continued to lead the charge in the second half, taking a 27-15 lead in the third quarter after both sides crossed into their respective end zones to score another touchdown before the final quarter began.

Arguably, the most impressive play of the game was by defensive back Tyleal Aubain, who connected on a remarkable 65-yard pass from sophomore QB Censear McDonald to close out the match! But it was too late for the Redhawks, and the clock ran out. The Huguenots emerged with a 34-22  win
