Rockland crushes Chester 54-22

The Rockland Wolves faced off against the Chester Hambletonians last Wednesday night in Livingston Manor. The speakers were booming, and the energy was high for the Lady Wolves’ first home game of the season. It was a tough matchup but fortunately for Rockland they were able to secure a 54-22 home win.

Rockland came out of the gate first with an early drive to the basket by Leah Ladenhauf. The Wolves seemed to be all over the Hambletonians on both sides of the court and before long it was 9-0. Ladenhauf forced a turnover and converted into a deep three followed by another steal into an easy layup. It didn’t look like Chester was able to keep up with Rockland’s defensive pressure, consistently turning over the ball to the Wolves’ full court press. The Wolves held the Hambletonians to just three baskets in the first half. Rockland had the game in the bag going into halftime up 28-7 over Chester, if they continued their ferociousness from the first half.

The second half was much of the same with Rockland stuffing up any attempt by Chester to get their offense in a rhythm. Rockland was able to drop another 26 points throughout the quarter while holding the Hambletonians to just 15 points. In the end Chester couldn’t overcome the Wolves’ lockdown defense combined with their penetrating offensive drives and pinpoint passes into the paint. The Wolves earned their 54-22 home win for their first game of the season, a promising start.

Rockland Head Coach Joe Clark said, “It was nice to play at home this week. The girls played excellent tonight especially on defense. The team is certainly starting to come together.”
