In this article, I’d like to discuss a couple of the most common rules of the game. Out of Bounds and the Penalty Areas.
1. Out of Bounds rule is basically pretty simple. Defined by white stakes or lines around the course. If your ball lands outside those barriers, it’s OUT of BOUNDS. You must take a 1-shot penalty and replay from the spot you just hit from.
2. Penalty Areas. If your ball lands in a Yellow-staked area, you can take a shot from there if possible. The other options are to replay the shot with a 1-shot penalty from where you last hit it, or drop a ball as far back as you want, keeping in line with the flag from where the ball entered the area.
3. Lateral Relief. Defined by Red stakes. The player can drop the ball two club lengths near the point where the ball last crossed the edge of the penalty area, no closer to the hole. 1 shot penalty.
