MONTICELLO – On Christmas Eve, Jolly Old Saint Nick took on the Grinch in Monticello Raceway’s first ever ‘Santa vs Grinch’ horse race. A rivalry old as time, or at least as old as 1957, when the Grinch first appeared in the Dr. Seuss classic How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Many harness racing tracks across the country host the annual holiday tradition. “This is the first year we have done this,” shared Amy Taggart, one of the three organizers of the race. A decision Taggart made along with Barb Newton and Liz Stubits to, “Help promote racing and bring a little fun to the track!”
