Rain may have soaked the grounds of Bethel Woods, but it did little to dampen the energy when Brandi Carlile took the stage. On the evening of August 16th, the weather became part of the experience as fans gathered under ponchos, umbrellas, and the pavilion for a performance that was as powerful as it was heartfelt.
The evening opened with special guest Jensen McRae before Carlile took the stage for a set that showcased both newer material and fan favorites. Backed by her incredible band, Carlile opened with “Returning to Myself” which started a performance that blended emotional storytelling and high-energy rock. The evening wound down with “Hold Out Your Hand” before extending into a four-song encore that included a rendition of Alanis Morissette’s “Uninvited’.
The crowd remained fully engaged, singing along and embracing the less-than-perfect weather as part of a memorable night. Carlile closed the evening with “A Long Goodbye,” sending fans home on a tender note. Carlile’s ability to make a large outdoor audience feel personal proved to be a great strength, and that warmth and sincerity were felt from the stage to the lawn.
