LAKE HUNTINGTON – Sullivan West multi-sport standout, Adam Ernst officially signed with St. John Fisher University in Rochester to play football. He will likely play defensive back, says SW offensive coordinator Justin Diehl. Diehl spoke briefly about Ernst’s character and work ethic. “Being able to work with Adam for the last three years has been an absolute pleasure.
I could talk about all his stats, all the records that he broke, I could talk about all his accolades, he was two-time Section IX Champion, two-time All-State selection, but it’s his character that has gotten him to this point.”
Also in attendance were Adam’s parents, Jeremy and Crystal Ernst, grandparents, close friends and teammates.
Longtime veteran track & field and head football coach for SW, Ron Bauer shared his sentiments as well. He said “Adam will be moving on to St. John Fisher. He really had a great season for us. He set the record for total passing and had 40 touch down passes. He made first-team All-State Quarterback and gave us great team leadership. When things go wrong you need someone out there who’s gonna pick the team up. He [Adam] was good at giving us team leadership.”
After his signing, Ernst spoke with the Democrat about leaving for college and playing at St. John Fisher. “I’m just super excited to get up there and get an opportunity. It’s a little scary but it’s a part of life and you gotta grow and you gotta adapt. I can’t wait! St. John Fisher is part of the Empire 8 and NCAA Division III Schools.
