Take Hold of God’s Blessings

Posted

Recently some friends and I were discussing how God has available to us so many blessings that He desires to pour out upon us, but we don’t receive them. We wondered why we don’t access them, and what we would have to do to take hold of them.

Some thoughts we had were that most of us live our lives not expecting any of those blessings, and we go through life just living as we grew up and were taught. We don’t realize we are actually living in defeat, when there is so much victory available to us if we would just learn how to walk in it.

We already know what God has available to us. Ephesians 1:3 (NLT) says, “All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ.” God has made available to us every spiritual blessing there could ever be!

We also know the first steps to receiving these blessings. God offers us redemption and forgiveness of our sin because of the freedom Jesus purchased for us through His blood shed on the cross.  As we repent of our sins and ask for God’s forgiveness, making Jesus the Lord of our lives, we have the guarantee of eternity spent with Him.

But many stop at this point, thinking they’ve done what’s needed to get into heaven, not realizing there is so much more available for us now. We decided that what’s needed to access these spiritual blessings is a renewing of our minds.

As we go through our days, we need to pay attention to our thoughts, words and actions. Are we reverting to our “usual” way of thinking and speaking, or are we starting to change our words and actions to be more in line with God’s word, walking in the authority we have in Christ. That’s when we start to walk in victory.

So what are some of the spiritual blessings God desires to pour out upon us? He wants to shower us with His mercy, grace, compassion, kindness, favor, strength, unfailing love and faithfulness.

We have available to us the peace of God that exceeds anything we can understand, hope as a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls, and inexpressible and glorious joy that we can live in no matter what our circumstances dictate. Jesus is the initiator and finisher of our faith. He has given us all we need for life and godliness, even the faith to believe in Him.

God has promised to supply all our needs from His glorious riches given us in Christ. The Lord is our protection against every form of evil. He is our fortress and strong tower where we can run to and be safe. He is the miracle working God who makes a way where there is no way. Nothing is impossible for our God.

He has given us His precious Holy Spirit to be our comforter, teacher, advocate and guide. Jesus is seated at the right hand of the Father continually praying and interceding for us. He has provided all we need to live a victorious life.

God has promised He will never leave us or forsake us, and He is the same yesterday, today and forever. He is trustworthy and true to His Word. We can stand on His promises to us and learn to access all that is available to us.
