NEW YORK STATE – The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) enacted the Inflation Reduction Act in 2022 to provide significant financial relief to millions of Medicare beneficiaries by increasing access to affordable treatments. Since its initial introduction, there have been important benefits and additions to Medicare Part D plans.

The Inflation Reduction Act will be expanding in 2025 in two key areas to drive downcosts for customers. With 3.89 million Medicare beneficiaries in New York, 20% of the state’s population is enrolled in this plan and will see positive outcomes from the additions. Here are the new Medicare changes in effect starting in 2025. What’s New to the Inflation Reduction Act in 2025.

Starting 2025, the Inflation Reduction Act will cap out-of-pocket prescription drugspending at $2,000. This new cost saving structure represents a marked improvement from the previous cap of $5,000 and will make prescription drugs more affordable for New Yorkers.

The law also provides beneficiaries with a prescription payment plan option, designed to create greater access to care through offering flexibility by allowing beneficiaries to spread medical payments throughout the year rather than paying them all at once.

How To Enroll in a Medicare Part D Plan

Many Medicare Advantage plans include Part D prescription drug coverage, making it easy to manage prescription needs and expenses. Insurers cover hundreds of generic and brand name medications.
