Across Sullivan County, girls are discovering their confidence, building friendships, and making a powerful impact in their communities through Girl Scouts Heart of the Hudson. Our council proudly welcomes girls from every corner of the county to be part of a movement that builds courage, confidence, and character while creating lifelong memories and leadership skills.
Our Liberty Girl Scouts will be representing Sullivan County in an unforgettable way. On March 12th, they will travel to New York City to attend a live taping of Good Morning America in celebration of Girl Scout Week. It’s an exciting opportunity for these girls to proudly represent their community and the values of Girl Scouting on a national stage.
Back in the county, the Monticello Girl Scouts are preparing for a night of music, fun, and Broadway-inspired magic. On March 20th, they will host a Wicked-themed karaoke recruitment night at the elementary school, inspired by the beloved musical and new movie Wicked. The event promises to be a fantastic evening filled with singing, laughter, and community connection.
Lastly, our Sullivan Manor Girl Scouts are bringing the community together with a special movie night on March 19th, at the Callicoon Theater. Families and community members are invited to come out, enjoy a movie, and support the girls.
Service remains at the heart of everything Girl Scouts do. Community Engagement Specialist Lynn Morales-Croker partnered with a local county legislator to organize “A Heart to Art,” a countywide service initiative that brought Girl Scouts together to spread kindness. Through this effort, girls from across Sullivan County created more than 250 handmade Valentine’s cards for Meals on Wheels recipients, local veterans, and residents in nursing homes. The project reminded everyone that even the smallest acts of kindness can brighten someone’s day.
And of course, it wouldn’t be this time of year without cookies! Girl Scouts throughout Sullivan County are currently in the heart of the Girl Scout Cookie Season, learning valuable entrepreneurial and leadership skills as they run their own cookie businesses. From goal setting and budgeting to marketing and customer service, cookie season teaches girls real-world skills that will last a lifetime. When you purchase cookies from a Girl Scout, you are directly supporting local girls and helping fund troop activities, community service projects, travel opportunities, and leadership development.
As the Girl Scout community continues to grow in Sullivan County, we are always looking for new girls, adult volunteers, and troop leaders to join the movement. Whether you want to mentor the next generation of leaders, join our Service Unit teams, help start a new troop, or enroll your daughter in an empowering program, there is a place for everyone in Girl Scouts.
To learn more about joining, volunteering, or starting a troop in your community, please reach out to Lynn Morales-Croker at lmorales@girlscoutshh.org.
Together, we can continue building strong girls, stronger communities, and a sisterhood that lasts a lifetime.
