SULLIVAN COUNTY – The Western Sullivan Public Library continues to offer weekly tech support, book clubs and various crafting programs throughout the month of February. Check out all that’s happening:
The Whatcha Reading? Book Club will meet on Tuesday, February 3rd at 2pm at the Jeffersonville Branch to discuss books and enjoy snacks. Every month they discuss a book that people have independently read and then share it with the group. This includes any genre!
The Mystery/Thriller Book Club will meet on Thursday, February 5th at 5pm at the Jeffersonville Branch to discuss The Tenant by Freida McFadden.
Adults are invited to Valentine’s Day Cookie Decorating, led by Heather from Cuppie Cakes, on Friday, February 6th at the Narrowsburg Branch at 5pm. Each participant will receive four cookies each to decorate, and all supplies will be provided. As space is limited, registration is required.
Open Art Studio at the Callicoon Branch will be held Friday, February 13th from 2:00-4:00pm. This program invites creators of all ages to explore a variety of art stations—including painting, watercolor, sketching, and more! All at your own pace. This relaxing, self-guided program encourages experimentation, play, and personal expression. Drop in, try something new, and enjoy a welcoming space to create. Registration preferred for notification purposes.
Do you like reading to escape the world? Do you love world-building stories and magic? Join the Fantasy book club! Ages 18+ recommended due to book content. Our Fantasy Book Club will meet on Wednesday, February 11th at 5:00pm at the Narrowsburg Branch to discuss I’m Afraid You’ve Got Dragons by Peter S. Beagle.
The Classics Book Club will meet on Tuesday, February 17th at 4:00pm at the Callicoon Branch to discuss Beloved by Toni Morrison.
The Narrowsburg Book Club will meet on Wednesday, February 18th at 11:00am at the Narrowsburg Branch in Narrowsburg to discuss The Lion Women of Tehran by Marjan Kamali. Borrow the books from the library or the ebook or audiobook online via the Libby app.
Cricut Machine Meet-Up is happening Wednesday, February 18th at 5:30pm at the Jeffersonville Branch. Discuss your machine's capabilities and share the latest tips and tricks for making your current project. This program works great because we work together to come up with projects and help follow through on ideas.
On Wednesday, February 18th at 4pm at the Narrowsburg Branch, you can join the library’s Adult Programmer, Ciera for Suminagashi Water Marbling, using nail polish and plain white vases. This art form first originated in Japan in the 12th century. All supplies will be provided. Please register as space is limited.
Then join Ciera again and other crafters at Craft Lovers on Friday, February 20th from 4:00pm to 6:00pm at the Callicoon Branch to make pipe cleaner flowers. All supplies will be provided.
The Saturday Movie premiere is on Saturday, February 21st at 11am at the Jeffersonville Branch. Enjoy a movie with popcorn and snacks! All ages welcome.
Board Game Day is on Saturday, February 28th from 10am to 1pm at the Jeffersonville Branch. Bring friends or make new ones! Generic games will be provided but you are welcome to bring your own.
Free technical and computer support is available at each of the branches. Make an appointment with computer tech Dale, either in-person, via zoom, or by phone. Support is available from 1pm to 4pm by appointment, Mondays at Narrowsburg, Tuesdays at Jeffersonville, and Wednesdays at Callicoon.
Every Monday*, the Narrowsburg Knitters meet at 6pm at the Tusten-Cochecton branch in Narrowsburg for an evening of knitting, crocheting, and other needle crafts. *Except February 16th.
Every Thursday, from 1:00pm to 3:00pm is Sew-cial Circle aka Needle Crafts group at the Jeffersonville Branch. Bring projects you are currently working on or begin something new. Basic supplies and general instruction will be provided.
