HUDSON VALLEY – It wouldn’t be the holiday season without Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol,” and it wouldn’t be a Hudson Valley holiday season without Theatre on the Road’s live performance of the nostalgic classic. For 25 years, Theatre on the Road has been sharing their family-friendly tribute at some of the region’s most loved venues, and next month the traveling theater troupe returns with a run of 13 shows over 11 dates (listed below) at locations including the historic Beekman Arms in Rhinebeck, the accessible Venue Uptown at the Best Western in Kingston, and the stunning Hudson House Distillery in West Park.
True to the traditional tale, guests can experience the joy of Christmas as they’re invited to feast with the Cratchit family: Bob, Mrs. Cratchit, Belinda, and everyone‘s favorite—Tiny Tim. In scenes right out of Dickens’ classic novel, you’ll be treated to visits from Ebenezer Scrooge, his Nephew Fred, the Woman of Goodwill, the ghost of Jacob Marley, and the three spirits of Christmas. Included within the ticket price of this live and interactive performance is a three-course dinner and Victorian holiday carolers as tableside entertainment both before the show begins and during the dinner break.
Adapted from Charles Dickens’ classic, the script was written by Theatre on the Road founders Frank and Kristen Marquette. Kristen is also providing her high-quality handmade costumes, while Frank, who is also the producer and co-director, will be sharing the role of the Narrator with Ellen Pavloff. Marisa Gorsline, who is co-directing this year, is a 20-year veteran of musical theater and acappella Victorian caroling.
This 25th anniversary production also features the talents of Griffin Stanger, Bob Greffrath, Dennis Wakeman, Steven Giammettei, Erin Hebert, Heather Roland Franco, Joe Maxwell, John Thayer, Scarlett Gorsline, and Georgie Berman.
