LIBERTY – The third annual Dylan Dainack Memorial 5K will take place on Saturday, September 27 at 10:00am, starting at the corner of Darbee Lane and Grant Street in Liberty. This meaningful community event honors the life of Officer Dylan Dainack, raises awareness about addiction, and supports recovery efforts.
The 5K was created and is organized by Danielle D’Agata and Megan Hobby, who founded the event in loving memory of Dylan. Last year’s race brought together 114 participants and raised over $6,000, with all proceeds benefiting Hope Not Handcuffs, a program dedicated to connecting individuals struggling with substance use disorder to resources and recovery support.
“Addiction is never an individual battle – it affects families and loved ones in deep, lasting ways,” said Danielle D’Agata. “I’ve experienced that firsthand, and through pain, I have also learned the power of support, compassion, and community. The 5K is a way to honor Dylan’s memory and to remind others that they are not alone. We are running to break the stigma, raise awareness, and support recovery because there is always hope.”
Megan Hobby added, “We run in memory of Officer Dylan Dainack, a beloved brother, cousin, son, and friend whose infectious laughter and kind heart touched everyone he met. Dylan was deeply committed to his work in law enforcement, but like so many, he battled addiction. His story is a powerful reminder that addiction does not discriminate. Through this 5K, we honor his life, break the silence, and carry forward his legacy with hope, compassion, and the strength to speak openly about what too often remains hidden.”
