GRAHAMSVILLE — New York State Police confirmed that Tri-Valley Central School District Superintendent, Michael Williams, was arrested for DWI on Friday, June 25 in the Town of Neversink.

According to State Police Public Information Officer Steven Nevel, Williams struck a cable pole and flipped his vehicle on Claryville Road. There were no serious injuries. Police reported that his BAC was .16.

Police say the time of arrest was 5:45 p.m. and this was Williams’ first DWI offense.

He was released on an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Neversink Court on July 6 at 7:30 p.m.
The incident took place the day before Tri-Valley’s graduation, at which Williams attended and spoke.
A statement on Tri-Valley’s website says that Williams has been placed on administrative leave pending further action by the Board of Education.

The school said that Tri-Valley’s Assistant Superintendent, Debra Kelley, and Business Official, Robert Whitaker, will share the duties of the superintendent in the short term.

The Board will meet July 8 to discuss next steps.

“Tri-Valley has a talented and experienced leadership team and the Board is confident that our schools are in good hands,” said TVCSD Board of Education President Keri-Ann Poley. “The Board will keep the community informed as we navigate this troubling situation.”
