To the editor:
Finally, after what feels like wading through dozens of column inches over months of opaque reporting, the July 10 Democrat at long last explains why this Resorts World bond sale, then ‘refi’ effort, was important to their reader - Resorts World was on the brink of financial default without some financial maneuver.
What would have been nice with all the reporting would have been a clear story about what this actually meant to Resorts, or more importantly, the average taxpayer of Sullivan County. The Democrat seemed to be saying ‘there was nothing to see here’ but at the same time clearly thought the story merited coverage, since it was covered above the front page fold extensively and repeatedly.
Hopefully that’s the end of it, because trying to make sense of the story was keeping me up at night drafting letters to the editor.
