Please remember that buses for all of our schools are back on our roads with lots of road construction and utility work being done. Try to plan a little extra time to get where you are going, slow down and stay alert. Please watch carefully for school buses and “our” children crossing the street(s) and getting on and off the bus. Obey the buses flashing lights and their stop signs as they pickup and/or deliver the children. Never, ever pass a stopped school bus when its red lights are flashing. Patience is a virtue, let’s keep everyone safe!
Reminder! The 97th Annual Sullivan County Volunteer Fireman’s Association Parade will be hosted by the Grahamsville Fire Department tomorrow with the parade stepping off at 1 p.m. Trucks will be judged from 9 a.m. until Noon with Line up at Noon. A great family event with Fire Department competitions following conclusion of the parade. Come out and show your support for all of our Fire Departments!
Also, next Saturday, September 19 is the Annual Jeff Jamboree with live music by the Little Sparrow group, a Tractor Parade at Noon on Main Street in Jeffersonville and Duck Race at 3 p.m. Lots of fun all day with lots of vendors and free horse drawn wagon rides too! A delicious Pancake Breakfast at the 1st Presbyterian Church starts the day off in style! FMI: contact me!
During September, the Western Sullivan Public Library (WSPL) invites you to celebrate Library Card Sign-up Month and discover how a library card can hit all the right notes, no matter what your tastes are. This year’s theme chosen by the American Library Association, “A Library Card Hits All the Right Notes,” is a reminder that libraries offer something for everyone. Whether you’re checking out a book or attending a program, meeting up with friends or finding a quiet place to study, getting tech help or borrowing an ebook, your library card is the ticket.
Throughout September, sign up for a WSPL library card to be entered to win a special library tote bag. If you already have a card, bring in a friend or family member so they can sign up for a card, and you will both be entered into the drawing for one of three bags. Stop by Western Sullivan Public Library or visit us online at www.WSPLonline.org to sign up for your card today. They will be at the Jeff Jamboree for you to sign up too.
May we NEVER FORGET. 09.11.2001. Twenty-five years later, we remember the fallen and honor the heroes……
