LIBERTY – The Wellness Initiative for Senior Education (WISE) Program is a new offering from Cornell Cooperative Extension that celebrates healthy aging and educates older adults on a variety of topics. This free program is open to anyone 60 or older.
The educational program offers one lesson per week over six weeks that cover a wide range of topics. Participants will have an opportunity to meet new people and:
• earn about the aging process and how to make healthy lifestyle choices
• elebrate this exciting stage of life and all the benefits that come with it
• iscuss risk factors and behaviors older adults should avoid to stay healthy
• xamine how alcohol, prescription medications and over-the-counter medications affect seniors differently and how they can avoid problems
• earn how to use simple tools to help you feel more empowered about your health and the healthcare you receive
Classes be held on Mondays from 11-1 pm starting Jan. 27, 2025 and will be held weekly through March 3, 2025. Lunch is included. The WISE program is a collaboration between the Caregiver Resource Center and SALT at CCE Sullivan and is supported by grant funding from New York State, Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), and Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).
