SULLIVAN CO. – The Western Sullivan Public Library branches have plenty of new activities in store for April, along with their popular ongoing programs:
Open Art Studio at the Narrowsburg Branch is on Friday, April 3rd from 3-5m. This program invites creators of all ages to explore a variety of art stations—including painting, watercolor, sketching, and more! All at your own pace. This relaxing, self-guided program encourages experimentation, play, and personal expression. No instruction is provided, allowing you to dive into whatever medium inspires you. Drop in, try something new, and enjoy a welcoming space to create. Registration preferred for notification purposes.
Then, on Wednesday, April 8th at 5pm at the Jeffersonville Branch, you can join Ciera, the library’s Adult Programmer, for Miniature Picture Frames. They will be using hot glue and silicone molds. A second date for this craft will be offered on Wednesday, April 22nd at 4pm at the Narrowsburg Branch. All supplies will be provided. Please register as space is limited.
All ages are invited to Rethink, Reuse, Recycle, led by chef and educator Dale Buchheister, on Friday, April 10th at the Narrowsburg Branch at 5pm. This talk will focus on composting and thinking green! In this program he will talk about food waste and give advice on how to manage your kitchen while thinking green (both in the money sense as well as recycling). Also discussed will be food stock options, plant trimming regrowth, and composting. Earth Day is coming up and it's a great time to refocus on recycling and being money smart in our current economy. Please register as space is limited. Email wsplprograms@rcls.org with any questions.
The Callicoon Branch opens its 2026 Open Mic/Spoken Word series on a new day, the fourth Friday of the month, starting April 24th. Creative writers ages 16 and up in all genres are invited to read an original poem or short prose piece in a three-minute time slot. Sign up for open mic begins at 5:45 pm, with readings between 6 and 7 pm, followed by a reading or performance by guest artists between 7 and 8 pm. Check out the WSPL online calendar each month for all our upcoming events and workshops.
Registration is required for all programs, and drop-ins will be accommodated whenever possible. For more details and to sign up for any of these programs, visit the calendar at WSPLonline.org. Questions? Reach out to Ciera at wsplprograms@rcls.org.
