CALLICOON – Spring is on the horizon, and so are fun after-school and weekend programs at the Western Sullivan Public Library!
Join Dinner-and-a-Movie Night at the Jeffersonville Branch on Wednesday, March 4th. This month, chef Dale Buchheister will teach parents and kids how to make New Orleans-style gumbo and spoonbread while we watch an animated Disney musical set on the bayou. Snacks, popcorn and refreshments will also be served. Cooking begins at 5:30pm, film starts at 6:00pm. Runtime is 97 minutes.
The Equation & Expression Program is a new high school student-led educational enrichment program for young learners that runs February 25th - March 25th at the Jeffersonville Branch. Session 1 is open to grades 2-3 and will meet Wednesdays at 5:30pm. Session 2 will be open to grade 4-5 and will begin April 8th.
Kids and adults alike are invited to join guest artist A Smith for a creative Trash Art & Junk Journaling workshop. On Saturday, March 7th from 12pm - 2:00pm, bring your clean, usable trash and discarded materials to the Narrowsburg Branch and learn how to create with what is around you.
Curious and creative kids are invited to join STEAM Space, a monthly program exploring science, math and technology. On Friday, March 20th at 5:30pm, children ages 6 and up can join us for Potions for Spring and learn how to make their own antibacterial cleaning solutions (with a little bit of magic sprinkled in).
Does your child have a green thumb? Love to play in the dirt? Are they particularly passionate about science and agriculture? They just might thrive in WSPL’s Garden Club, starting Saturday, March 7th at 10am. Garden Club is for kids ages 6-12 and meets once a month in the spring (twice a month during the summer) on Saturdays at 10am at the Narrowsburg Branch. WSPL’s Garden Club is part of the Junior Master Gardeners program, an international youth gardening program that engages children in novel, “hands-on” group and individual learning experiences that provide a love of gardening, develop an appreciation for the environment, and cultivate the mind. Participants will learn all about gardening, from starting seeds to harvesting, and will participate in community service projects to earn their Junior Master Gardener certification.
