CALLICOON – It’s going to be a busy summer at the library with all the exciting kids’ programs in store:

Garden Club is for kids ages 6-12 and meets on the following Saturdays at 10am at the Narrowsburg Branch: June 27, July 11, July 18, August 8 and August 22. Learn all about composting with Master Composter Kristi Powell, and how to maintain and care for your garden with Adrianne Picciano, aka the Dirt Diva! Participants will learn all about gardening, from starting seeds to harvesting, and will participate in community service projects to earn their Junior Master Gardener certification.

Summer Story Squad: Kids Reading Club

Young readers are invited to join the Summer Story Squad, Western Sullivan Public Library’s buzzing brigade of bookworms! At the Callicoon Branch every Thursday from July 2nd - August 20th at 2pm for this special Summer reading club for early (grades K-2) and intermediate (grades 3-5) readers. Early Readers: Readers at a K-2 reading level can enjoy a group storytime where we practice reading a new book every week. Growing Readers: Readers at a 3-5th grade reading level will pick a chapter book to read aloud together week by week and will share what they've been reading in the meantime. *Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

Youngest learners (ages 0-3) are bound to have a blast every Wednesday from 10:15am to 11:30am at the Jeffersonville Branch for Let’s Play! from July 1st - September 2nd. This dynamic playgroup is designed for the more active child. It’s a safe space for families to connect and children to interact with each other in open play, with music, games and literacy activities.

Tuesday Storytime with Miss C combines crafts, rhymes, reading and rhythm for curious kids and their caregivers. This program is geared towards children ages 2-6, but all are welcome. Storytime will meet Tuesdays at 10:00am at the Delaware Youth Center in Callicoon from July 7th - August 4th, then at the Narrowsburg Branch from August 11th - September 1st. Registration is required.

“Unearth a Story” at the Delaware Youth Center

Kick off the summer on Tuesday, June 30th at 10am with a Dinosaur Hunt Safari, a special performance at the Delaware Youth Center by children’s entertainer David Engel. Embark with the zany Professor Livingpebble (Engel), on an adventure to dig deeper into your library than ever before! Attendees can also pick up a goodie bag including a copy of our Summer Program with a full schedule of activities.

From July 7th - August 4th, young readers can join  at the Delaware Youth Center on Tuesday mornings for Musical Storytime with Miss C at 10am, followed by a variety of programs inspired by dinosaurs, paleontology and archaeology from 10:30am - 12pm. Activities will include field games, scavenger hunts, recycled art projects with A Smith, Theater Games with Lori Johnson, interactive storytelling with Meg’s Imagination, and much more! DYC non-members can register on the WSPL website to attend programs for free.

Both programs are geared towards children ages 5 and up and will include arts & crafts activities following the presentation.
