Applications are currently being accepted for the 2026-2028 Sullivan County Poet Laureate. 

The person chosen will be an ambassador and a leading voice for encouraging the appreciation of reading and writing poetry in the County. The poet laureate engages a variety of constituencies, including both children and adults, enriching the lives of residents by sharing and promoting poetry through conversations, readings, public appearances and digital/social media.

Sullivan County Public Library Alliance (SUPLA) embarked on this project in 2019 with the theme “The Spirit of Sullivan County.” Over the years, the five poets laureate held dozens of programs and workshops for all ages at the nine libraries in the County, local schools, and Bethel Woods Center for the Arts.
