Wurtsboro Street Fair whips up excitement

WURTSBORO  — The heat and humidity didn’t stop roughly 10,000 attendees last Saturday as they turned out for the Wurtsboro Street Fair.

An annual tradition hosted by the Wurtsboro Board of Trade, the fair celebrates Wurtsboro’s founding 200 years ago by the Wurts brothers and the D&H Canal groundbreaking. It brings vendors from all over to share their wares, information and food. This year continued that time-honored tradition with 152 vendors lined up along Sullivan Street.

“Wurtsboro’s 2025 Founders Day Street Fair was the best yet for a combination of reasons, but most importantly because we have acquired an amazing group of sponsors,” stated Wurtsboro Board of Trade Vice-President Kelly DeGuzman. “Their contributions have allowed us to offer free shuttle service to the fair, free bounce houses for attending youth, advertising opportunities, a great music line up, and more!”

With Sullivan Street bustling, there was something for everyone. Car enthusiasts could inspect various models and makes of cars at the Any Make Any Model Car Show located on the southeast end of Sullivan Street.

Crystal Connection was shimmering with customers as they checked out the many stony wares available. The little ones could get in on the fun too as kids coming to the event could also jump and play on inflatable slides and bounce houses across from the Veteran’s Park.

Attendees could also spot live mural paintings happening at places like the Mamakating Library and at 86 Sullivan Street.

Attendees could also treat their ears to live music by Jaketown Road and Y2KAOS in the lawn at Hudson and Sullivan Streets.

The Wurtsboro Fire Department also came in for the pitch with a dunk booth in the parking lot for kids to take their best aim.

Live animals like alpacas were present and birds of prey such as owls were present for viewing in the lawn beside Danny’s.

The event was sponsored by the Wurtsboro Board of Trade, Jeff Bank, Rolling V Bus Corporation, Sullivan Catskills Visitors Association, Bold Gold Media Group, Thompson Sanitation and Orange & Rockland.

“New additions to the fair spark interest in a variety of attendees and continue to grow over the past few years including the ‘Paint the Town’ mural project and the Any Make Any Model Car show,” stated DeGuzman. “By inviting attendees to Wurtsboro to experience the fair and our village, we hope they remember that Wurtsboro is a ‘Small Town. Big Time.’”
