For the 46th year in a row, 98.3 WSUL hosted its annual Heart-A-Thon on February 16 at the Resorts World Casino -– raising $80,950, with one of the largest donations of the day being a $10,000 contribution made by Resorts World.

A blood drive held during the event resulted in 37 pints of viable blood donations which will save 111 lives.

This community event has become a staple in the fight against heart disease in Sullivan County, with proceeds going directly towards local initiatives and organizations dedicated to cardiovascular health. Since its inception, the Heart-A-Thon has been a resounding success, raising over $3 million.

Year after year, enthusiastic participants and donors come together to make a significant impact on the lives of those affected by heart disease. As one of the longest-running fundraisers for heart health in our area, the Heart-A-Thon continues to be an example of how small acts of kindness and generosity can create lasting change.

The Sullivan Catskills Visitor’s Association, in collaboration with volunteers who contributed their time and energy, work to raise funds each year in support of the 12-hour event. This event is broadcasted live on radio station 98.3 WSUL. As a result of this successful fundraising effort, four community-based organizations received proceeds from the event: Sullivan 180, A Single Bite, the Steam Fund, and Garnet Health Medical Center.

In addition to these organizations, the work of the Bold Gold Fund is also supported by a portion of the event’s revenues. Administered by the Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan Counties, this fund provides crucial resources for various causes within our community.

During the event, three critical categories are highlighted: treatment, education and prevention. Through informative discussions and engaging activities, attendees are educated about these important topics and inspired to act towards creating a healthier and stronger community for each other.

The next blood drive is May 18th at the Sullivan County Government Center.
