A History of the Root Cellar and How to Build One at the Time and the Valleys Museum

GRAHAMSVILLE - An illustrated talk: A History of the Root Cellar and How to Build One will be held on Sunday, October 24 at 2 p.m. virtually on Zoom and in person at the Time and the Valleys Museum on St. Rt. 55 in Grahamsville.

Talk by Museum Trustee David Forshay of Willowemoc on the importance of root cellars in the past as a place to store the winter food supply, including vegetables, fruits, nuts or other foods. Includes information on root cellar construction in your basement. This is a detailed class with everything you need to know about the history of root cellars in the northeast and how to build your own.

Admission: Members are free, and non-members: $5 for adults and $2 for children. In person attendance is limited to 30 and registration is required.
