A preview of renewal for the Liberty Theater

Investor Bruce Davidson has put his heart and soul to restoring the Liberty Theater since 2018. Now, the date for its reopening may be just around the corner.

Davidson himself has many fond memories and a close connection with the theater.

When he was just 15 years old, he came to the Theater on his first date. He also fondly remembers having enjoyed many movies there, as well.

Davidson is anticipating that the building will be ready for a tenant in two weeks. From there, the tenant will decide how to best use this restored building.

One of the most difficult challenges Davidson has faced when restoring the building was the preservation aspect of the process.

He explained that, in order to replicate what was already present, there were a lot of missing pieces that had to be found and duplicated.

For example, one of the replications he had to make was finding and duplicating the tin ceiling.

As for the use of the new theater, Davidson is building for theatrical use.

“Dinner theater was the idea,” explained Davidson, “It’s all up to the tenant [on their plan for usage].”

With a keen eye for restoration, Davidson drew particular attention to the preservation of the marquee. He called it “an incredible piece” of the building’s architecture.

The usage of the Theater won’t be exclusive to movies, as Davidson is also planning on the building being potentially used as a conference space, for example, as well.

Just recently, Bold Gold Media moved in on the upstairs level that includes offices with Davidson’s full support.

“The offices upstairs were the most exciting [aspect of restoration for me] because they had the most detail,” explained Davidson.

He also confirmed that there will potentially be a grand opening event when the theater is ready for the public.

There are original pieces of the theater that still exist within the building. All of the floors, ceilings, doors, and trims remain the same as they originally were.

“It fosters growth [in the community],” said Davidson, “This is what we consider an ‘anchor-building’. Since we’ve started, we’ve seen changes in the Village, a small renaissance, if you will”
