LIBERTY — On April 11, a significant occasion was observed at Achieve Rehab and Nursing as one of their oldest residents, Zita Speer, reached the milestone of turning 103 years old.
Surrounded by her family, friends and fellow residents, the atmosphere was filled with love and admiration for Speer’s longevity and vitality.
The event commenced with the gathering of fellow residents who were eagerly bundled up and assisted outside to join in on the festivities.
Joining Speer in celebrating were guests such as County Legislators Matt McPhillips, Brian McPhillips and Luis Alvarez, along with her family and friends.
Various Police agencies showed their well-wishes for the birthday girl with sirens. Afterwards, family and friends were invited inside for cake, where they shared stories and laughter.
Speer was gently guided by the attentive staff to take her first indulgent bite of the rich chocolate and vanilla-flavored birthday cake.
“Here’s to my 73rd!” Speer playfully said, cheering with a small bottle of water.
