Albert George Kaufmann, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on December 13, 2024, in Lynbrook, New York, at the age of 89. Born on December 10, 1935, in Maspeth, Queens, Albert lived a life marked by dedication, love, and an unwavering faith in Christianity. He leaves behind a rich legacy, most proudly evident in the family he nurtured alongside his beloved wife, Gladys, for nearly 68 years.
Together, they raised six children-Albert, Thomas, Joan, Mary Jeanne, Steven, and Caroline-who have continued the tradition of love in their own families.
Albert treasured his role as a father and grandfather, with 18 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren set to carry forward his legacy.
Our hearts overflow with gratitude for the support and love extended to us by friends.
Albert’s life journey was enriched by his service to his country, his leadership as a Boy Scout leader, and his successes as an entrepreneur with a knack for turning ventures into triumphs, earning him a reputation for having the “Midas Touch.”
His vibrant personality assured that he was the center of warmth and energy in any gathering, known for his distinctive whistle that marked his presence. He dedicated himself to his community, notably serving as a committed parishioner at Our Lady of Peace Roman Catholic Church and guiding young minds as a Scout leader.
Guided by the four pillars of his life Faith, Family, Friends, and Food-Albert consistently sought to bring light and joy to those around him. As we gather to honor his life and bid farewell, we remember not only his remarkable accomplishments but also the personal connections he fostered. Albert was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Rose Marie, and his brother Dennis.
Alongside Gladys, he leaves a lasting impact on a loving extended family and community.
Our family invites you to attend a wake on Monday, December 16, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Flinch and Bruns Funeral Home in Lynbrook. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, December 17, at 9:45 AM at Our Lady of Peace Roman Catholic Church.
In lieu of flowers, we kindly ask that donations be made in Albert’s memory to the Ronald McDonald House or Our Lady of Peace Roman Catholic Church.
