The sky is falling! The sky is falling! Just take a look outside…gotcha! In case you were caught unaware on today’s “infamous” date, it is April’s Fools Day – and you know what that means; free chocolate and candy!
Got you again. Our apologies dear reader, we only get this opportunity once a year to deliver news that is way too good to be true (because it very well is not true.) To see our full apology, please flip this page over…we are sure you’ve caught on by now.
With all these falsehoods and facades springing up today, perhaps you are in the mood to read something that is undeniably true; there’s no fooling when it comes to how important it is to shop local – and with Hudson Valley Restaurant Week continuing until April 13 – how important it is to eat local.
Put on by the Hudson Valley Table, the Restaurant Week promotes dozens of farm-to-fork, small business restaurants, with a number of Sullivan County based eateries participating in special deals all through the yearly event. While there may not be exactly free chocolate and candy waiting for you like Halloween night, for these enterprises, feeding people delicious, locally sourced food today and every other day is no joke.
Find the full list of restaurants from within the county here, www.valleytable.com. In the Restaurant Week Tab, use the search feature to narrow down the option to Sullivan County and let your foodie imaginations run wild. There is no better time than now to try out that place you’ve driven past for years and always told yourself one day you would try – why not make good on that promise today and give it a go!
We hold in good faith that no matter where you choose to try, they won’t try to pull any fast ones on you. When you’ve cleared your plate and nurse a full belly, you’ll wonder why they don’t call the holiday ‘April Foods.’
