Assemblymember Kay secures $100,000 for Garnet Health’s Callicoon Campus

CALLICOON - Assemblymember Paula Elaine Kay and her staff delivered a $100,000 state grant for Garnet Health Medical Center’s Callicoon Campus. The funding will be used to renovate and modernize patient bathrooms and shower rooms in the hospital. The project will enhance accessibility, safety and privacy for patients.

“For many families in western Sullivan County, Garnet Health Catskills is the closest place to go in an emergency or when a loved one needs a hospital bed,” Kay said. “This grant is an investment in our neighbors’ health and in the future of local healthcare. When our community hospitals are strong, people can get the care they need close to home, without facing long drives or delayed treatment.”

Kay noted that rural residents already face challenges accessing specialists, mental health care and routine services. Supporting community hospitals like Garnet Health’s Callicoon Campus, she said, is essential to keeping beds, providers and services available in smaller towns throughout the 100th Assembly District.

“Garnet Health and its dedicated staff are a lifeline for residents in and around Callicoon,” Kay added. “I will keep fighting for resources that strengthen this hospital and protect access to care for every corner of Sullivan and Orange counties.”
