ATERES, JEFFERSONVILLE — Village elections have come and gone for both the Village of Ateres and of Jeffersonville on March 18.
Both villages saw two Trustees each affirm their spots after running unopposed for their respective Board seats. In Jeffersonville, incumbent Mayor William Chellis ran unopposed for a two-year term.
Ateres
Due to the low density and newness of the Village, Village Clerk Zisha Berger told the Democrat that this election was slightly different in that the voter turnout was low, and the candidates were running unopposed.
Both Trustee Chayim Fried and Trustee Chaim Lorincz were both under the same line and ran for Board Trustees. As such, both saw a range of 20 votes.
Jeffersonville
In Jeffersonville, in addition to Incumbent Village Mayor William Chellis’s re-election, two incumbent Trustees, Kathleen Herbert and Brian Barlow, also ran again unopposed and, as such, renewed their two-year terms on the Village Board.
Chellis received 19 votes, Hebert 20 votes, and Barlow 17 votes. The total number of returned ballots this election was 20.
