MONTICELLO — Residents of the Village of Monticello exercised their democracy muscles Tuesday afternoon in the Special Village Elections, which saw Village Trustee John Barbarite keep his seat on the board.

The incumbent Barbarite, who ran on the Democratic  and G-men lines, was able to fend off challenger Joel Reyes, who ran under the Puppies & Kittens line.

The results showed that Barbarite was able to comfortably retain his seat on the Village Board with his 213 votes, sweeping challenger Reyes’ 34 votes. With absentee ballots included, 248 voters showed up to make their voices heard.
