Bethany to hold soup sale

BETHANY, PA — The Bethany Collective will hold its annual Soup-er Sunday Soup Sale on Sunday, February 25, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Bethany Public Library, 8 Court Street. Patrons can order ahead and pick up soup and baked goods on the day of the sale. Requests can be made by calling Janet Heinly at 570-817-6617.

“The soup sale has been a great success over the years,” said Jane Bollinger, president of the Bethany Public Library Board of Trustees. “People really appreciate a welcome break in the winter. Reserve early; last year we sold out.”

The cost is still only $10.00 for a Mason jar quart of soup. This year’s choices include bacon and bean, beef barley, vegetarian Borscht, Branko’s La Patisserie’s Tomato Tuscany, broccoli cheddar, vegetarian butternut squash (gluten free), chicken barley, chicken tortellini, chicken vegetable, chicken with homemade noodles, Gretchen Grotto’s pasta fagioli, ham and potato, homemade chili, creamy turkey rice, Philly clam chowder, Scarfalloto’s Townhouse Diner’s creamy mushroom and barley, the Stourbridge Bistro’s white chicken lasagna, and split pea with ham. Breads include apple cinnamon, banana, blueberry crumble bread, cinnamon streusel, cornbread, chocolate chip pumpkin, cranberry orange, date and nut, yeast-risen bread, lemon, pumpkin, strawberry banana, and zucchini. We do recommend calling soon, since selections of soups and breads go quickly. Weather permitting, patrons can pick up soups and breads at the front of the Bethany Borough Building. In case of inclement weather, soups and breads will be available inside.

The mission of the Bethany Collective is to raise funds to help support the Bethany Public Library, Bethany Historical Society and Bethany Borough.
