To do list: All of us should be acting as if we have tested positive for COVID-19 and behave accordingly. This new ‘way of life' will save a life and in the scheme of things, it IS temporary. We are in this together. You're monitoring the news and it's sobering. Be smart and be healthy. We are self-quarantined and reminded to be vigilant about personal hygiene, cleanliness, social contact and the health of others. Catch up on communication with friends and family. Vent your feelings. Read or binge watch that show. Play with the kids, bake and do artwork together or go for a walk. Reorganize your closets - put donations aside for now. Be creative and pretend it's a hurricane, but you have utilities.

Be appreciative of those in the ‘front lines'. We are all thankful to emergency workers, caregivers, nurses, doctors and all the support persons, including grocers and small businesses out there who are giving so much to help sustain a degree of health and sanity in our communities.. For those in need of assistance in Sullivan County, use 845-807-0925. The Public Health hotline is 845-292-5910 and SC Dept of Community Service-Mental Health number is 292-8770. Reach out to Rep. Delgado (delgado.house.gov) or use (metzger@nysenate.gov) or 292-0215 to contact the Senator's office. Cuomo's office: 518-474-8390. For Bethel information, use 583-4350.

Send me your news. Most local events have been postponed until further notice or canceled altogether and that includes Bethel Parks & Rec activities. For Bethel Summer Camp Registration information, call 583-5360 or requests can be made using (bethelnyparksandrec@gmail.com). Returning campers have until April 3 and new campers until the 11th and Cathy reminds us, “first come, first serve”! The Bethel Egg Hunt is moved to a tentative date in May.

Call 5834350 x108 for Bethel Tax information. Town Hall may still have summer job, CEAP and ‘Save a Life' applications.

Sign up for a future ‘Nana's House Children's Free Trips' (eventbrite). Register now for the May ‘Allyson Whitney Foundation 5K'(allysonwhitney.org) in Kauneonga Lake and the June Rhulen R4 Run (www.rockhillrun.com link). Call 295-2445 or use sullivanrenaissance.org for Renaissance grant information and availability. Sign up to vend or volunteer at the June 21st Kauneonga Block Party (yanka2@aol.com).

Palm Sunday is not canceled and it's a great time for a prayer and raised spirituality. The Callicoon Theater's site posts “Closed”. The Bethel-Smallwood Senior Meeting scheduled for April 1st is canceled. Check ahead before visiting any area exhibit and arts centers. Meanwhile, for your listening pleasure, some creative local musicians are posting performances on line (see ‘Bethel Lakeside Music' facebook site). Not firm, but the Catskill Distillery last posted ‘Open Saturdays' 2-5pm. Country Bum'kin Antiques has closed for visitors, but check the site for when they have ‘Video Sales' on line. Some Bethel Woods events, programs and the Museum opening are postponed until further notice. ‘Mountain Jam' on Memorial Day weekend and ‘Zac Brown Band' are cancelled. Use BethelWoodsCenter.org/Covid19 to stay in tune with the latest.

Local restaurant and prepared food update: Until further notice, it's an ‘Order and Pick Up or Delivery' situation. The Fat Lady Cafe and Benji & Jakes remain closed. Barrio Kitchen and Hector's Inn closed and Bethel Market Cafe said they'll close for two weeks. Local Table & Tap, weekends, 583-3020.
