Bethel Woods drops ‘daisies’ during anniversary weekend

Bethel Woods Center for the Arts reimagined a special event from the Woodstock Music Festival on Saturday, August 14.

As the legend goes, Joe Cocker had just finished his performance at the original music festival on August 17, 1969, when a Bell H-13 Sioux helicopter flew over the crowd and dropped daisies on the field.
The celebratory weekend of events commemorating the 52nd anniversary of that festival included another “daisy drop” of sorts.

As part of a fundraising raffle, another helicopter flew over the field dropping yellow golf balls decorated as daisies. Spectators watched from a safe distance neart the Bethel Woods Event Gallery and from the Woodstock Festival Monument on West Shore Road.

Bethel Woods says that all proceeds will go toward art education programs, historic preservation efforts and The Museum at Bethel Woods.
