Join the Basha Kill Area Association Nature Watch Program for their 2023 Season. If you have a passion for nature and the Basha Kill, a willingness to share your passion and a few weekend hours to volunteer, then you’d make a great addition to our Team! As a volunteer, you’ll help monitor an active bald eagle nest.

At the training, volunteers sign up for three shifts (three hours each) on Saturdays and Sundays from April 22 through June 25. Be sure to bring your calendars! If you love the Basha Kill and like to talk with people, this program is for you!

To attend on March 25 and for more details, call Kevin Keller at 845-434-6209 or Maryallison Farley at 845-888-0261.

There’s lots of interaction with visitors as you share information about all that the wetland has to offer.

This year’s Annual Training includes a special presentation by Cliff Robinson, long-time historian and advocate for the Delaware & Hudson (D&H) Canal. He has been involved with several non-profit organizations focused on the D&H including the D&H Canal & Gravity Railroad Conservancy from 2006 - 2021. Currently, he is Executive Director of the Neversink Feeder and Canal Conservancy. His talk and PowerPoint will focus on the history and highlights of the D&H Canal Trail as it passes through Mamakating, the Bashakill Wildlife Management Area and Sullivan County in general. Participants will also learn about the nuts and bolts of how Nature Watch works, along with a hands-on review of spotting scopes, followed by a visit to the boat launch to see where the program is located.
