British Strategy in the Hudson River-Lake Champlain Corridor during the American Revolution at the Time and the Valleys Museum

GRAHAMSVILLE - An illustrated talk: British Strategy in the Hudson River/Lake Champlain Corridor during the American Revolution (1776 - 1777) will be held on Sunday, October 17 at 2 p.m. at the Time and the Valleys Museum on St. Rt. 55 in Grahamsville.

Military Historian Charles Breiner of Claryville will discuss British strategy to divide New England from the rest of the colonies by taking control of the Lake Champlain - Hudson River Corridor. The planners will be introduced, including King George III, Lord North and Lord George Germain and the men chosen to implement this strategy, Major General Guy Carlton, Governor of Quebec, General William Howe and his brother Admiral Richard Howe, along with General John Burgoyne. The campaigns of 1776 and 1777 will be covered culminating with the Battle of Saratoga and General Burgoyne’s surrender on October 17, 1777 which led to the American victory in the Revolution.

Members are free, and non-members: $5 for adults and $2 for children. In Person attendance is limited to 30 and registration is required.
